What is the problem with your car?
I had a AE101 GTZ. Computer started to fail:
- check engine light would not light up with ignition on but engine not running.
- check engine light would light up sometimes after starting engine and would remain on for that trip
Then the computer failed
- very poor idle
- engine only went ok when you had some boost happening!
- very tricky to drive due to engine surging on part throttle
- when I tried to get a fault code by shorting the connector the check engine light just stayed on and didn't flash at all
Replaced the computer - everything fixed!

Nuty Mikes flatmate bought my old GTZ, so my old car is in auckland. PM Nutty Mike.
Hope this helps

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

The ECU appears to be working fine. All dash check lights, injectors working but no spark. It throws code 14 which is the Ignition. I've replaced the coils, ignitor, check all the wires including leads but none of this has fixed it

It did work for about 5 grand seconds 8) Was running off three cylinders because one of the injector plugs was too short.

I turned it off, extended the injector wire, plugged in the air temp sensor and now it won't start, no spark :? I didnt earth the coils properly  so I _think_ a back voltage may have killed something, maybe the ECU.

Do the ae101 DLI coils need to be grounded?

Hi Ken,

Bad news! I believe the ECU has just shat it self again! The car isnt ideling right now when its warm, the engine light is stuck on, and it stalls sometimes, and it wont let me get the diagnostic codes, i tried to bridge it last night and it just flashed constantly which means normal operation, did it again this morning when I caught it not ideling right and now the lights stuck on. I think this post clears my mind up as im getting pretty stressed finding what the problem might be.

However, what better excuse than to upgrade to a link I reckon, I will check the prices and maybe take it to an auto electrician. You dont think there could be a short or sensor failed do you?

Yea this thread is old, it was a blow capacitor, the one between the live black-orange wire and the STA ecu wire. Problem fixed 8)
