In the early model FXGT's (ie your one) there is no black box. Instead there is a bundle of yellow plugs.

In the enginebay on the passenger side of the firewall, near the fuel filter. look for a yellow two pin plug with a rubber cap over the end of it.

That is the check connector which you bridge to check fault codes and timing.

You have spark.

You have no ignition.

You haven't checked for fuel yet - even if its munted and running crazy, it will at least fire if it has spark and fuel.

Very easy to see if you have it...

Im going to grab a voltmeter of my mate today so I will check if the fuel pump is getting any power to it. If it is then how can I tell if it is pumping or not?

Best way is to undo a fuel line and crank it for a second or so. Should get about a cup of fuel come out 8)

I've had a fuel pump do crazy things. Getting full power, running fine for 10 seconds then spluttering and going crazy.

Best way to check is actually see the fuel flowing.

Well, I went out to my car today to give it one final crank over and it started 8O Warmed up fine (Gave me a chance to fiddle with my new front door pods). So the fuel pump WAS pumping fine... Turned it off, then tried to crank it back over and it would fire but die. Popped the hood and found those three yellow plugs. One big with 4 slots inside, one medium with 2 slots and one small with one slot. Which one is the diagnostics one? Thanks for your help so far!

Maybe take a picture of your engine bay and we can point out the plug or where it should be?

Okie Dokie. It just flashes intermitantly. Like 1.......1.........1........1.......1.......1. About 3-4secs between each. Im guessing this might mean 11? EDIT, Or does that mean nothing is wrong that it can find?

Talking to myself again :D Pretty sure its the fuel pump now. Tested the power going to it and its getting 12v when im cranking it over. When I stop trying to crank it over the pump is making a funny 'donk donk donk' sound, Which doesnt sound very good. Perfect timing after I had JUST filled the whole tank :( Now wtf am I going to do with 45litres of petrol?? And how am I going to syphon it out, theres no blimin drain hole in the petrol tank!

syphon it ghetto stylez, suck on a hose and chuck it in your mums car, get her to repay you later.

Your lucky if its a fuel pump, easy fix. Just undo the lines, drop the two belts holding it up, drop it down, replace pump, put it back and your done. You could probably do it with the fuel in it. Apparently your suppose to replace the o ring sealing the fuel pump and tank...

Toyota pumps are pretty generic. I replaced a st162 pump with a '92 bluebird sss pump. Same mounts, depth, etc.
