Hmmmm. For a $12000 Integra Type R state want $1500 a year which is affordable for me, But maybe NAC would be cheaper than that? Ill have to give them a ring today.

Just out of curiosity, whats a type R like to insure? And what pricing are they going for these days?

If you're financing, changes things a bit too. Spending 2K to get a fast n/a car over a cheaper (but harder to insure) turbocharged one may as well have been spent on insurance in that case anyway.

At 18 I was paying 1600 per year, on a twin turbo VR4, all mods declared. I'm sure a lot of people have examples similar. As has been said, call around on insurance pricing and availability, you may be very pleasantly surprised, trust me.

Ok so the companies I have rung so far ar:

Type R 1996 Integra $12k worth with exhaust/lowered

AMI: $2000 Per year, $1500 excess (Went in and got a quote)
State: $1500 Per year, $1000 excess (Went in and got a quote)
NAC: $1800 Per year, $1200 excress (Rang up)
AA: Wont insure me (Went in)
Tower: Around the $2000 if standard, Wont insure me if modified.

What company are you with Ako? Also who else can I ring?

Edit, Just rang state and they said I need my full licence before they will even consider looking at insuring me for an integra. Useless calling the company over the phone.

The premium isnt so nice  They want $2600 a year. I may just end up going with NAC as I think theyre not as hard on you if it is modified.

Yup, but good luck finding one, conversion isn't too bad however

BTW, don't forget the small print on insurance policies......for NAC its standard practise to have an excess for damage to your car, and another excess for any third party damage

Yea the guy said that. $1200 for my own car and $1000 for the other car. I think a Soarer would be too much to run as I am pretty heavy footed sometimes, And im looking for a manual. Maybe I should just get a regular VTi-R Integra.

ive got my levin with NAC and after the first year with no claims the payments have halved, so once you get a clean record itll become cheaper ( add a house on to insurance and anyone will insure you)

Yea I was sorta hoping there would be a cut in the premium. I would love to be buying a house at the age of 17 but somehow I dont think I can afford a mortgage :)

As for the R33s, Im not a huge fan of those but maybe at the right price. But the insurance will most likely be too much for me. I think I will stick to an N/A car. Maybe a levin/corolla/civic/integra. Will have to take them for a drive to see which one I like and power differences.
