2e and 4e gearbox compatibility

hey people, just wondering if a gearbox from a 2e would work on my 4efte?

It will bolt up but you'll need the 2e cvs, which are weaker.
Just get a 4e box, they are cheap anyway.

Wrong, 4e cv's work with a 2e box (I've got them on my 1e for example) so it doesn't really matter as long as you have matching shafts. The inner cv spline count is the same for most of the c ceries boxes. You are right however that the 2e cv's are smaller and slightly weaker than the 4e units. I orginally had them in my 4agte without any problems so should hold up to a stinky old 4e :D

The 2e boxes (c150 or c152 if its the turbo s version) are a bit weaker thou, the internals are smaller (especially the diff) but the ratios are better. Try to find a turbo s box over a normal 2e one. As long as your not doing huge standing start 2nd gear antilag clutch drops you should be right, just have a spare kicking around against the day the internal parts of the box decide to become external parts.
