So you could use 4age rods? But have real low compression?

low comp means more boost....

But you could use the red top pistons to scavenge some mopre compression...

It would suck off boost though...

haha
wel 1mm down the bore with a 20v head put my comp to 7.6:1, so 10-15mm would mean like no compression and lots of boost :D

ok that plan goes out the window!

hmm seems like I will have to get some good rods after all...
Would any one with a compression calculator be able to tell me how long the rods would be if a 7agte had

Pistons: 4AG-ZE Supercharged.
Crankshaft: Standard 7AF-E
Compression Ratio: 8.9:1

taller piston prob means less revs. so not as much top end.

Pauter do rods you can buy through paradise racing
http://www.paradiseracing.com/rods.htm
Or you can buy direct through pauter in australia.

And there are heaps of diff piston brands you can get for it.

Pauter

Postby ezy10s » Tue Feb 07, 2006 5:13 pm

Pauter have a distributor in Australia? whos that Bazda?
I scored mine direct from Pauter America.

Hey Drifter4ag- the design of the piston would be horribly top heavy if you wanted to have one made to suit 4ag rods- looked at that with those carillo rods i had. And Rev is probably right to about actually getting theengine to turn over physically with that short of rod.(dunno for sure though as never botherred to try)

Unless you contributors are planning on making a 7agte similar to bazdas or Nick tee boones N/A version- just dont be silly with the rpm limit or boost limit and the std rods will be fine- do have a look through the club4ag site for the 7age/te/ze posts- there is a lot of interesting and helpful stuff there

the 7a rod is thicker and similar in design to the blacktop rod
it look quite strong and i dont know anyone that has attually broke one yet
though ive herd many stories....none have seamed true sofar

what head are you going to run....that will determine ur compression, also what pistons the 8.0:1 gze ones or the 8.9:1 gze ones...

The early posts by people who seem to have done 7ag years ago, labeled the rods as toothpicks. Why? thats the puzzle.
Nobody in more recent threads could say;
if was the rod or the bolts that failed
was it during hi rpms
or even give an idea of the 'breaking point'
A look at turbo 7AFE projects could give a hint
An ae86 hit 200whp; sc14 + ze pistons on 7a rod with ARP bolts
I'll copy, turbocharge and 'push' that same setup
My curiosity lies in seeing if a 7agte could keep up with a ca18det.
If u have to buy rod$$$ & forgie$$$$, makes alot more sense to stick with the ca18 which has soooo many other advantages
