As for Rotary power I can vouch his a couple of his motors, i.e HVATOS, been for a ride in that, its a very good motor, Tony has done many many passes down the 1/4 with that motor without a single problem or a rebuild, bit of a testament to Rotary Power considering how Tony drives and how long that highly strung motor has lasted.

You are right, lots of money to be lost if it goes pear shaped. If you are fairly confident in your mechanical skills, you could buy the rebuild DVD and attempt it yourself? Fairly easy if it is just a rebuild and no modifications are being made. Personally, if you do not have a mate who is close with an engine builder, I would just keep asking around - especially where people with similar set-ups went (as some builders are better at some things than others). Don't rush your decision.

I've known Brendon, and moreso his younger brother for a few years now...I dont doubt he's good, but yeah...

I reckon I could do it, they're not that complicated an engine, but lack of garage space and time kinda means its not an option.
Dont worry, Im far from rushing it I havent even got the car yet, thats how prepared I am

Well without a doubt I would take it there. You know you are gonna get treated there alot better than anywhere else. He is still doing stuff for his friends / valued customers so its an option. Just do as much work you can yourself (e.g. take motor out and put back in) to keep the cost (and risk) down.

Brendans a good guy, I would have thought taking it there would be a no brainer?

Whats been done to his car Keith? I used to be able to get from Otaki to Auckland on a tank of gas in mine. 2000 Nats I did 1500k's on $220 gas, with me, two mates and all our gear in the car...thats when gas was at about $1.24/l for 96
