you will need to change the mounts to fit leaf spring. and you obviously know that since its from a te71 gl its not a t series diff (6.7 inch crown) it will only be an s series (6.3 inch from memory).

And youll need the part of the driveshaft that attaches to the diff because again from memory they are different to the k series item.

someone might be able to clarify.

interesting...............is it a factory TE70 wagon??? with a leaf sprung rear?

if it is, count the bolts holding the head in and compare the overall size, chances are they will be the same, if so swap them over, the pinion flange should be the same.

never seen a TE71 wagon, so can't qoute, you obviously know of the vehicle.
as for d/shaft, you'll need one from an AE70/85 to go from K40/50 to S series rear.

Maybe he means a TE71 liftback? Which can almost look like a hatch wagon thing. There was also a 5 door TE71 liftback, but they were pretty rare and doubt he has one of them. I thought the TE71s only came in sedans, liftback and coupes.

The TE71 should be S series diff, with 8 bolts and 6.3" as mentioned above. It will have smaller axles than a AE85 S series. The TE71 GT has T series rear end with discs.

i'm a bit curious as well. there is a TE72 wagon (USDM), but have never heard or seen one in these parts, but it would be cool to have a left-hook Toyota!!
