I disagree.

A lot of men take sh*t from women their whole lives.

Nahh, most of them open their eyes. They can only take so much before they explode and either A) leave them or B) go postal

Problem here is that you just like to disagree for the sake of disagreeing :P

many do, and many dont.
Generally, the people who are willing to take shit from a partner from the start, will remain in the submissive role in the relationship the whole way through..... because they dont know any better. If they did, they wouldnt have been in that relationship in the first place. :)

Problem here is that you just like to disagree for the sake of disagreeing :P

I dont see it as a problem.

But what you're missing is that they become WISE to it. Realise that its not right.
Not to mention that when you first meet someone, they're typically not themselves. It's not until later down the line that you find out what they're really capable of. Everyone wants to impress at first.

WRONG

Dumb and insecure people remain submissive. People's faces change once you go over the intimacy barrier.

They are one way when you meet them and get to know them but can be very different once you enter into a formal relationship.

Mortage - Just got one 8O
That's kinda scary, but also very exciting.

Marriage is unessessary at a young age. People rush too often, I'm not going to help the 50% of all marriages ending in divorce statistic, but what girl could honestly say they never want a celebration with a pretty dress and sparkly ring :P

And kids, lol, I'm much too much of one myself.

Guess I should post up my POV aswell then huh...

I'm not a really big Mairage sort of person. By this I mean I want to get married someday and I have thought about it but not like a huge ceremony type deal. Short & Sweet kinda thing...

Kids I absolute despise at the moment but that's not to say I don't want one. I have in the back of my head a picture of a little me running around helping daddy take his car apart. (A little me - VERY scary I know...I keep seeing big hairball) :?

Morgage I will have within the next 2 years as I do want to buy my own place and have always wanted to. Probably won't be just my place though as the other half will be with me.

Oh, for sure... But not everyone has the courage to speak up.
You're going to know after a year or two what someone is really like.

Also... say you have 3 kids, a $300,000 mortgage, and are married.
You drop a bowling ball on your head, and realise that your wife is a terrible person.
Its not so easy to just give her the boot, is it?
There are other factors to consider.

Not to mention that when you first meet someone, they're typically not themselves. It's not until later down the line that you find out what they're really capable of. Everyone wants to impress at first.

This is why I'll never do anything for a girl, that I'm not willing to keep up in the long run.
So many guys go tripping over themselves to impress a girl, but set themselves up for a fall later on. When the girl realises that their BF doesnt actually love to write them poetry, cook them dinner, rub their shoulders, and all of that bollocks, they tend to get upset.

The thing that I dont understand about wanting to get married, is that....

It's all so cliche to me.

Why does this 'ceremony' have to happen in a certain way? why do you have to have bridesmaids, groomsmen, and ring bearers?
Because everyone else says that thats how you have to do it? And they only do it that way, because the people before them did it like that? And so forth?

Why dont people choose to celebrate their relationship in their own way, rather than being so lame about it.

I guess it is just traditions like that in general that I think are lame.

If a whole generation decided that a certain tradition was lame, it would pretty much cease to exist.
Many stupid traditions only carry on, because people think that they should, because its a tradition.
Circular logic anyone?

I know one couple that didn't get married in the traditional sense as we know it today, but did something like 1600's traditional.

In those days, they would actually swap blood, cutting hands and clasping each other's wounds.

They didn't do something quite like that, but instead of getting rings, they decided to get the same tattoo design on the ring finger and have the same needle used.

Their reasoning behind it was because they believe that the only thing the Government will do for a married couple is go to the other when one is owing money (And can't be found or whatever). They wanted something with more spiritual meaning. Something that means more to them and helps them keep their bond stronger.

Is there actually anyone out there, that wants the whole white picket fence thing?
Or is that just a generalisation about middle class joe averages.

As you can tell, I'm not interested in the above at all.....

But I'm sure that some of you have different points of view. 8)

I want a hot wife...
But that will happen after I have done what I want( Read: make my car cooler)...maybe in about 6-7 years?

Loan= no

Marriage? may be a beach one, traditional = no..

kids...well not for a long time... Though I am sure I will latter on in life.
