There have been cartoons and TV shows, almost any form of political/religious freedom of speech put out there, and this is the first i've heard of people destroying/killing because of it, and it doesn't seem to be just 1 little group either...

Sure, there is nothing wrong with condemning it if they believed it was out of hand, and probabley would have got an apology out of the Danish if they had said so, but i've seen quotes like "The Cartoonist should be put to death".. burning a countries flag.. hate speak... to me that is oppression of someones personal opinion, and that is wrong (IMHO).

Unfortunately it's par for the course, anyone remember Salman Rushdie and his book "Satanic Verses" he was condemned to death by Irans spiritual leader Ayatollah Khomeini, and had to go into hiding for years.

Reactions to his book and to the cartoons are way over the top, and seem to be caused by a religon that takes itself far too seriously. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for this episode to die down.

You can see why it has offended Muslims, its part of their religious doctrine, something not easy to ignor for people who live in/as their faith.

Of course we're going to think of it differently because the West's media is so free. We have the right to free speech, and free media is a very important part of a domocracy...but honestly, this was just a way to sell more papers and get bigger audiences. Its stirred everything up, and for no real reason.

I believe fully in free speech but you have to be carefull how you use it.

You shouldnt make fun of unstable countries like that or your just asking for troubble. I mean what would have happened if a US paper made fun of the kremlin 60 or so years ago and claimed it to be free speech?

People should be more sensitive to other peoples beliefs, especially when they dont understand them.

When does free speech turn to harrasmant or verbal abuse?

If i walked up to a police officer and said he looked like a "pig" and that they are all scum blah blah blah im sure it wouldnt just be free speech. More like a free ride to the cells.

As for the extreemists, they are fully out of line, The moderate Muslims who condemn it as offensive is what i voted as being right.

BUT:
The extrimist were actually (and probably still are) moking 9/11, USA and whole western world on flyers, local newspapers, local tv stations, big posters and what is with burning flags, isn't it moking big time (especially for brainwashed USA citizens)? And noone gets really upset over it anyway (common sens, sense of reality).
They (western) were actually making cartoons of russians (USSR and other comunist states) 30 odd years ago, in form of propaganda, news papers, tv etc. (same were going on other side aswell) noone was fighting over it were they?
TO FINALISE THIS:
Noone in wester world does not cut muslims heads off in name of Jesus! (and puts it on the tape and send it to relatives)

Those people are brainwashed and have no common sense, their values are extremely scewed. I don't mind religious people, but religion should be no way used as reason to kill or do harm!

Thing is the western paper isnt dumb enough to publish the pictures the muslims are making. Americans would get angry, they are like that.

afik the pictures were originally published in september last year.

Americans also fight in the name of god and believe they are right and god supports them, they dont cut peoples heads off but manage to kill hunderds of people and injure many more with a single bomb.

The muslims are fighting a different war, they dont have the weapons that the us have.

Christins has been in wars for much longer than the muslims, some very brutal wars at that too.
What about the whole IRA stuff? Christians Vs Protestants, and thats still happening now, children are being targeted! Its outrageous.

And there was no cold war 30 years ago, 60 years ago the relationship between russia and america was unstable, just the same as the relation ship between the muslim and western world is now unstable.
