yes and yes. i also did the crank and cam seals when i did mine. good time to replace all the other belts aswell and possibly even your water pump if u get carried away :)

crank pully is a cow to get off. i used the "put a half inch power bar and crank the engine over" method. worked a treat. but remember - only crank the engine over - dont start it. if u have an alarm put the imobiliser on so u dont start the engine.
What is RR?

There is a small list of parts you should do IMO

Water pump, Tensioner Idler Cam seals Crank seals Thermostat.

Or like myself go the hole hog and get the head rebuild ($250) for New Stem seals, acid bath check everythings good new cam cover seal etc all fitted.

Sorry should have said on my 20v

the cambelt came off real easy, I could pull it off with my fingers. I think the tensioner was stuffed, so i tried undoing the bolt that holds it on and it was real tight, so I put a bar on the end of the spanner and pulled, heard a crack, thought it had come undone, but instead found that I had cracked the bit of aluminium that goes over the crank and that the tensioner tightens on to.

How does this come off? Ive undone all the bolts and removed the gear, but it still wont come off

Is it me or it looks like you have broken the oil pump housing?
So in that case you will have to undo the sump and disconnect the oil pickup.
Pickapart is best place to get 20v oil pump for real cheap. unless you want to spend $200-$300 (not exactly sure how much, Mr Revhead will sort you out) on new item.

does anyone here have a pulley puller (gear puller) that i can borrow?

i managed to get the gear off my donor engine but its proving more difficult with the engine in the car

Only reason i had problems was cus i stripped the tensioner bolt and then cracked the oil pump cover trying to get it off

But shes all go now :D :D

(Thanks to Sergei for helping to set my timing after i broke a bit off the gear  )

Oh yea and the oil light hasnt come back on again
