warning fuel sign after putting in pertol. WAT DO I DO??

hi,
put in $20 into my AE86 tank and the low fuel sign is still on. WAT DO I DO??

well, is the guage up?

if the guage is up, and the sensor still reads as empty, that means the sensor is fuxed. either that or REALLY high in the tanc... i think its when no fuel is around it it turns on, so it sits low in the tanc, thus when tanc low = light go on.

so it might be bung, or floatie .

If my gas guages were doing funny things id wanna be filling it up and using the tripmeter to give myself a mental idea of when im likely to be short on gas...

if he cant fill a car up when the guage goes down he dosnt deserve an ae86.....

[not helping] my mate had a old bluebird, that when it had fuel in the tank, the light was on, but when it was low, the light turned off...worked opposite. No need to fix it! [/not helping]

did fill up the tank and still the low fuel sign is on and the fuel gauge is empty. mine is a electronic gauge so the fuel guage has no bar or any sign of full tank.

Im guessing (obviously) if you have now filled up and it still does not work that it is one of several things:
1: the plug for the sensor has somehow come off. Im not sure, but think they are on the inside of your car, either the boot or back seat- have you moved anything around that area lately.
2: the actual sender is stuck, or faulty. Either way that would mean taking it out- best to get the multimeter out to test that also.
3: the gauge cluster is not plugged in properly- however Im not sure this would make the light go on, maybe mabye-not.
4: something else I cannot think of at this time of night

anyone know how much it would cost to get a fuel gauge tested? approx cost.. e.g $20 or are we talking hundreds here?

can test if it moves with 9v/12v battery on the correct terminals. what type of car?

You mean digital dash?

We had an AE86 in with digi dash and man are they troublesome,

after three repairs in a year at about 300 each time I converted it to an Analogue dash type like a normal AE86.

This means you have to change the dash, fuel sender and oil sender, and speedo drive.

We got them as a set from a wrecker, but nowdays a complete set will be hard to find.
