Are you sure it was in the 10's? The Area 51 car eh? AFAIK, he never got out of low 11's

I don't think the Area 51 car is an RB26, just an RB25. And not 'he', 'she' ;)

Theres an RB26 Sil80 owned by Sam, and an RB25 S13 owned by Tarnz. The 2 people behind Area-51 :)

There is sams 180 (the area 51 car) with RB26 - He's never run a 10, come damn close though.

There is a guy down here (chch) whos brought his one out to play as well (RB26 180SX... Does that make it a 260SX??), he ran 11.3 on monday if memory serves. Burgundy coloured, youd never know if you just looked at the outside of the car. Very cool :D

Wickid. Now thats a real car, drive it there, race, drive home. So few people choose to mod 2jz's in NZ, they'd be owning all the drag meets if they were as common (cheap) as those dirty nissans. But then again, im glad they're a rarity in comparison.

I thought he did a mid 9 as well?

It was only a matter of time......

I completely agree... they've been doing it in the states for, well, years! Just needed someone in NZ to spend the money I guess... But yes, very good to see.

Well done Graeme (if you read this) :)

Yeah, but that was far from a road car ;) Still a great achievement, but nothing is as cool as a true 9 second road car (except maybe an 8 second one )

Are you talking about the Supra? That used to be auto, then he converted to manual, has he gone back to auto again?

also the rb30 is a nissan motor, just appears in holdens because holden can't do motors :D

Sorry yes i meant the supra , think it is a 3 speed box he is using now ,not sure if he changed the diff, as i know he went through a few diffs. Also think he is running a T88 turbo , dont quote me on that i saw it at nightspeed and just saw it under the hood.

Thanks for the words!
Yes, I check in to Toyspeed quite a bit, but don't get a lot of time to post- NZPC takes a fair bit of the posting energy!

Thanks for your support and encouragement- the Supra project has been a big ask this year and a huge financial drain, so it was really exciting to reach to target- a street-car 9- on only the 8th pass of the season.

To answer a few of your questions:

Yes, the car has run two 9's now.
Top pass was a 9.915 @ 219kph, although it ran at 222kph the pass before.

It now runs a T88-34D- and not just any old T88, but the original T88 off the Croydon Skyline- a bit of history lives on!
The 'box is a GM TH400 reverse-pattern 3-speed with transbrake and 3000rpm stall. The box was built here in NZ by The Gearbox Factory, with a torque converter built for me by Boostlogic in Austin, Texas. It's still really streetable!

Also new this year is a GReddy intake plenum, 1000cc top-feed injectors and an HKS alloy top-feed rail, Infiniti Q45 throttle body, NOS 75hp shot to spool up the turbo on the transbrake (it shuts off at 14lb) and the Powr-FC has gone in favour of a complete re-loom and new Link G2, with Kenny Bell ignition amplifier and new Bosch coil packs.

At this stage the power is still around 500kW at the wheels- dyno before the NSDW last was 497- but it's back at Torque Performance where we aim to run a couple of extra lb boost and run a slightly leaner tune.

A full speclist is loaded up on the Mkiv webpage www.mkiv.co.nz and I've just completed making a short video clip in-car from the 10.2 at the Nats which I'll get loaded up onto our own website www.croydons.co.nz next week.

We're running tomorrow night at the NSDW / Battle Day Round 2, feel free to come over, say hi, ask to look under the hood if it's closed. Happy to talk to anyone about it.

Cheers and thanks,
