2 unusual things...

Yesterday I think I saw one of these on stone St

Image

I have done some research and apparently only 100 were made so I think that probably it is a kit on a normal CLK AMG (normal ha..)

I didn't get that good of a look at it due to the fact I was trying to drive downhill on a bendy road in a work van during a torential downpour.

anyone else seen it??

the second thing is that last sunday after the festival of speed we went to see some friends and on the way back out to mosgolia on the motorway I passed...

Jim richards!!!

I know it seems juvenile but it just appeals to me in some way. He was in some big GMC four wheel drive towing the race car. Unfortunatly I was in my work van and the wife got to drive past him in the caldina and had no idea who he was.

SAY WHAT!! 8O Only Lambo's i've ever seen are Countach's - one of which is that yellow replica that lives in Dunedin somewhere.

Would be awesome if that was one of those DTM Mercs. :D

And at the SFoS i was standing about a metre or so away from Roger Townshend and Jim Richards who were standing by Rogers Escort talking. I wanted to go up and say hi, but was dawdling about/delaying it for so long that they eventually got into their cars and got ready to race.

*Still kicking himself*

There was a lambo in town for the FOS but I have heard conflicting reports about what type it was and most people can't tell the difference anyway.

Roger Townshend is a god. I remember seeing him at the nissan mobil 500 is a suport race treating it like a drift event and wasting TVR's. Nissan Mobil 500... I'm so old.

i have pictures of the lambo, the yeelow one parked outside the merc dealership when the fos was on, its a murchiralago (or however its spelt) belongs to the guy who own indy cars in chch, ill put sum pics up tomorrow when i have fresh batteries for my camera.

Bloody nice car, but do they only come in yellow? cause that seems to be the only colour i've seen them in.

But yes nice merc. Maybe rick armstrongs one, he had one that he had for sale, was trying to get my uncle to buy it, but he reckoned he'd thrash it too much for it to keep its value so turned it down. Possibly could be the real deal though if u saw it in town

I saw it speed past me on the one way street going North (i was turning so i didn't get a good look at it). Not sure if it was a Diablo (wouldn't say so though), i didn't get a good look at it at all, i just saw a yellow lambo zoom past.

Saw the merc as well, same situation. It was turning onto George St from.. Frederick St? (the street Bowler is on) on the long-ass intersection. Zoomed past. Bastards!

The M6 was the safety car at the festival....pretty awesome.
I would much rather have an M3 tho, quicker ( i think ) and alot tighter on the corners...there are a few in town....:-) pretty!!

Did anyone see the yellow drop M3 top in the centre of the oval... it was NICE!!

Oh and how about the pace car!! Silver AMG E 55 touring wagon ( thought I saw supercharger on the side? could have been wrong)

On regards to the car the top of the post I think Vickrin actually got photos of that VERY car when it was stationary... had his digital camera.
Im sure he would happily post them up.

It would have been "Kompressor", not supercharger(if it was at all), so, slightly wrong :)

I saw that yellow Gallardo Friday week ago on my way from DN to Waimate just passed Oamaru. It's strange the way some cars can make you feel excited when you see them. 8)

Yeah, that black R34 GT-R V-Spec sometimes comes to SSE monthly meets when he can get the time. 8)

And if anyone told me there was a Murcialago outside of Armstrong Prestige on the day of the FoS i would have been there in a flash - bugger the crossing points! :D

Something interesting. Yesterday (Sunday) morning, from about 11am onwards, i heard all these loud cars drive past every now and then. I eventually stopped reading and looked out my window to see the black 1980's Porsche (from Wingatui - the same guy who used to have a 1960's Corvette) drive past (licence plate; '3.2 911' or something) followed by i think another Porsche (bright green, but without the big radiator thingy sticking out the back - so must have been an older one) follow behind it along with another one.

So this got me slightly interested - i spent the next hour or so looking out my window, the lounge window and standing out on the footpath by the road. Heaps of (mainly Euro) cars went past in that time and i've tried listing them below.

- Seven or so Porsches which looked the same shape as the black one from Wingatui (silver, bright green, maroon, grey or silver plus a few others)
- Two or so Porsches which had a flatter back than the above ones, looked like an earlier model (bright green etc)
- One new Porsche 996 Turbo, or one that looked very similar to a Turbo (silver) - would be the first one i've ever seen
- Heaps of Mercedes', old and new and some with the tops down.
- Few Audis and stuff i think.
- A red striped EVO V or VI (think it might have been the same one that parks in Andy Bay near KFC)
- Quite a few BMW's, including the maroon M6 that was at the FoS. Took off down the road after it left our street and sounded bloody awesome - revving it right up. :D
- Couple of Jaguars i think.

Plus there were likely more that i didn't see/can't remember.

Point is, i've never seen so many Porsches before in my life, especially not ones of (seemingly) the same model/shape, first time i've ever seen a BMW M6 (apart from at the FoS - which was technically the first time) and i'm going to ring up a few people to try see what it was all about (a car club cruise more than likely, but they were seriously scattered so it may have been a rally or something).

Apart from the blue and white Dodge Viper (which is now back in the UK with it's owners) and the Countach replica, there has hardly ever been such flash cars come down our street. 8)

Twas awesome.

there are two with near identical looks, one belongs to one of the car dealers(the one next to KFC), the other belongs to a young(~24) software developer, and it is ~630WHP(on Shell Racing100, or ~530 on BP98), and is bloody scary to be in when he lets it loose on the motorway

The one I saw was black, with a wing and the plate <R34NUR>

And I saw this parked in west auckland. Not in town or anything, thats part of the reason I was so shocked. It was in a place I would never ever expect to see a car of that value.

heh, that car had me in histirics one day, a mate and I drove past, he read the number plate and thought that they were being arrogant with it, I asked him to explain, and he said "R34....NUR, like they think they're better than everyone else"

laughter ensued, both at him, and the other memorable plates, "NOT ART", which I always read as "NO TART" which is funny when you see the driver

If that R34 NuR had deep dish wheels on it, then it used to belong to a guy on Skylines Downunder. 8)
