Postby Infinite » Thu Feb 16, 2006 9:48 pm

Car : 1997 Toyota Curren
Current Engine : 3S-FE
New Engine : 3S-GTE

Converting gearbox to a ST202 (LSD)

Car is auto at the moment so i will be geting all the bits for that from a 1997 curren...

Using the E56s drive shafts to.

Going to get the Engine,Loom,ECU from a wrecked car that has a 3S-GTE

Then i will do the the piping for the engine with just brand new stuff till its runing...

Anything like new fuel pump ect ect i will need to upgrade?

Have i missed anything?, As i am starting to buy the parts next week. Thanks
Also were can i buy some of this stuff finding it hard to get gb/engine

definitely should upgrade the fuel pump. Either use one from another 3sgte powered car, or buy a brand new walbro

Well me and infinate have the same ideas, what car would be best suited to rip the 3sgte out of? mr2, Caldina or a Celica? And would it be easier to mod the drive system to suit the engine, or to mod the engine to suit FWD?

I wouldn't go for an MR2 engine. The alternator is at the bottom on the intake side. It would be a real bitch to get at in a FWD and would probably get in the way of something else.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Best car for engine MR2 turbo
Best car for gearbox - gtz levin/trueno

Its gonna get expensive

Go hard

Could be cheaper to rebuild your engine with stronger parts and go aftermarket ecu. This however requires more work and knowledge.

Not worth it with my engine, it would be cheaper to do a 3sgte transplant and a 4wd conversion than trying to turb this heap of crap.

admittedly, if the ST202 Celicas have an E series gearbox then that will be easier to use than the MR2 one, but from what I understand you've had quite a bit of difficulty trying to track one down (or was that the other guy?)
