Postby L0w_st4rlet » Sun Mar 12, 2006 11:34 pm

hey just received a mint 83 rona prismatec orange low as but its only running a 3t haha i have searched it and have got the idea that a 3tgte will bolt in but that is all i can find and i have dial up so it SUX hard. will it bolt up to the t series box thats in there? only planning on running standard boost. and what about wiring will i need to completely rewire a new loom in there or is there a shorter way already being a 3t? already running an lsd. what would need to be done 4 cert has mean breaks. any 1 have a 3tgte 4 sale? any help appreciated am pretty new to this but have worked in a workshop so should be able to do it myself thanks any help appreciated. :D

It will bolt up to your existing box as its the same series engine. However, the box may or may not cope so well with it. Loom wise, it would be easiest to run a 3tgte loom & ecu if you can get hold of one...either that or aftermarket. They are around to buy- just depends how much you wish to spend. Finding a cheep one will take a little more searching, but:

For a cert, assuming all work is done well, you may get away with good quality pads on the front, but really, its the knid of thing you want to talk with your local certer with.

nah man, abit more involved than that. personally i would throw the standard ecu and loom. get a link for $1000. wire it up yourself and get it tuned for like $500. and u will get abit more power etc from it, and will b able to run abit more boost (cos once the boost bug bites u will want bigger better and faster)

also, u will need a bigger fuel pump, bigger fuel lines, some form of surge tank setup, bigger radiator, an intercooler (unless u wanna run it standard an un-intercooled)

priced up some mods that thought was suitable 38mm external? 600*300 intercooler? ssq BOV? and just a under bonnet boost controller? are these suitable for this engine?

Dont waste cash on a external, just make a scremer pipe if u have to have the sound. 600x300 IC would be over kill for a stock engine

Whats a good(cheap) intercooler for these engines, then say if it was mildly upgraded, say exhaust, intake, turbo (proably a nissian one off a rb or v6), ajustable boost, bigger injecters etc?
