note the bolded correction... once theengine is nice and warm and oil pressure is up(5 min drive), hit a motorway onramp and leave it in 2nd... when the lift comes in(6300RPM), it's quite cool :)

Well gotta say after owning a well modded BZR 111 and now owning a Will (rebodied-same chassis-same weight) with the 2ZZ that the 2ZZ wins hands down in every account. :twisted: But handling is a wee different story as the wheelbase is just a bit TOO long. Longer than a Supra! But a lot more comfortable but can be made to handle to with a few readily available TRD suspension bits.

wow, never realised that... so is the RunX... lllooonnngggg.

From quite a few things I've read, the default suspension is fairly soft, I have a TRD stabaliser bar coming to tighten up some of the weight shift/body roll in the rear

well I guess we can keep this thread going, seems to be quite interesting.
I'll be sure to try the 6200 lift off once my mate gives me a drive.

if you want some cool add-ons, although expensive, try these three places, anything referring to the Celica GTS is ok with the 2zz RunX

not that I know of, the GB is a C160, which I'm assuming is a later revision of the C60 in the Levins(and Truenos?), later revision is usually better right? :)

other than that the interior is fairly typical Toyota Corolla, plain, functional, but suits it. the seats are comfortable, but a tad too flat for the performance of the car... the factory recaros that come with the newer caldina gt-t would have been a better choice in my not so humble opinion.

For those of us wanting it for a grocery car, or even just a car to drag the kids around in, it would be ideal, there is little need round town to hit anything over 4000RPM, and there is enough "oomph" availible below 4000RPM to sit there quite happily.

Will find out how easy they are to diagnose in a few hours, had a mishap(check engine and oil pressure light) last night

no kidding...
heart sank when it happened... could be as simple(hope-ing) as an oil pressure sensor failed, kicked the light on, ECU throws a spaz and shuts it off.

Well we had another one up here that was going to be built into a rally car , it craped it's oil pump drive, resulting in a few sales for Mr Revhead !.
And our road car has had it's crown wheel and pinion and 3rd gear replaced under warranty to cure a gearbox noise.

low noise, that doesn't really worry you, but is still there none the less? more pronounced when using gears to slow down?

if so, the local toyota dealer said they all(2zz with c160) do it, and took me for a spin in a new one(celica), and it did the same... might get it looked into while I've got a spare car.

yeah apparantly in aussie they had a spate of oil pump failures.
but that tended to be in the south african assembled cars....

wasnt that one up north due to crash damage on the pulley?

nope, I'm southern(dunedin).

got any info on the oil pump failures, would just like to show the mechanic the info as they're trying to figure out what caused it, and seem to be stuck with "oil pump lost a tooth(think thats what he said), cracked casing, and ummm, yeah, still trying to figure it out"

the original oil pumps are not "known to have a fault" as such, but all the parts guys that my mechanic spoke to, "suggested" that there "may" be a fault where they disintergrate(see pics below)...

2-3 weeks and my baby will be back.

bugger .. on such a new car? whats the problem .. LOL
oh well, my mate has passed his on to his flatmate, still going strong, goes hard. I've seen another in Auckland now with purple headlight bulbs or the likes, because the HID kit is producing a purple coloured light, someone on here?

It seems that they found the cause of the oil pump failure...

and this URL seems to describe it.

apparently when fitting very underdrive pulleys on these engines it shakes the sh|t out of the engine... yay...

so, insurance is only covering it as I haven't changed it, no idea how they prove that(I didn't but how'd they know that?).
