Blitz Power Meter i-D III

Postby Silent Knight » Mon Apr 03, 2006 3:17 pm

MODS if this is in the wrong section feel free to move. I thought this would go down as technical hence me posting it here...

Has any one had any sort of experience with these previously?

I am thinking about acquiring one at some stage but I would like to know from people who have used them before exactly how accurate these units are?

Would it be a good choice getting one of these or can anyone recommend any other units that does similar things in the same sort of price range as the Blitz unit?

At the moment I can get one of these for around 253$USD from just a quick look around.

Rob had one in his WRX, which according to that made 1001hp  Though I think his was the earlier model, so the later ones may be more accurate.

I had one in the Supra for a while.

its all good in theory but dioesnt account for G-forces like the Apexi RSM does. well the one i did didnt anyways - not sure about the III

If you're looking at something for metering power, go for the RSM, and get the G-Sensor ;)

RSM is quoted at +/- 1% or something close to that accurate IF There is no wheelspin UNLESS you use G sensor then again quotes same %.

Naturally you need correct setup, run the test and correctly mount and setup the G sensor.

FWIW..

its good value, id get another.

Ok Gentleman thank your time and help.
All my questions have been answered and it seems that the RSM+G sensor will be the best way to go.

Either of these units will give farily accurate results except that the RSM will take into account wheelspin if you have the G sensor.

The G sensor in the RSM does not take into account vertical G's from the test section not being on level ground, so it is not really any better in that respect. You will still get variances in the readings if you don't conduct you tests over the same section of road, preferably flat with runs done in both directions and averaged out.

I have used both and prefer the Blitz and it's a more compact unit and easier to install as it only requires Power, Earth and Speed signal inputs.

Hrmmm thanks for the input there fivebob.

This is starting change my opinion then.
The reason I would rather go for the Blitz unit is because of it's small/compact design.

But I do not want to sacrifice reliability etc just for because of the unit's design.

If they both give fairly accurate readings etc then I would much rather the Blitz unit quite personally.

you can Reset the G sensor back to 0, so this will make it accurate again even on an angle?

yes no?

as long as your not trying to launch up or down that massive hill in Dunediun.
