4agte clutch, whats everyone using? (fwd)

Postby ~SlideWays~ » Tue Apr 11, 2006 8:52 pm

Hey,

I'm asking this because I've just forked out for a new lsd gearbox and also a linkplus ecu to get the most out of my setup.

This will be for my fwd 4agte (ex-gze).

- First of all, has anyone found the limits of the std clutch?

- Second of all, what are people upgrading to?

I've got a gze flywheel and pressure plate in my ae86 aswell. I had the pressure plate tested (1200ish pounds) and then modified/tested again with a good increase (over 1800). This setup is using a std friction plate but has had the thin 'wafer' removed, which is sandwiched between the 2 sides (this was to make more room due to pressure plate modification).

This clutch setup has worked well with the rwd 4agze but the fwd turbo setup will be making much more hp/torque so don't know whether this will work again, so im looking into options.

Did that make sense!?

I run a Kennedy 4 puck sprung loaded clutch and a double diaphram custom cover by Clutch Systems CHCH.

Powerful FWD's just tend to bake tyres, so a reasonably solid clutch in RWD format ought to be fine in FWD.

I run a solid centre puk clutch and an uprated pressure plate (1900lbs ish). Its slightly tricky when your stop start driving, appart from that its fine. Handles the power no problem so far. I'd just stick with the ze fly and the setup your running, should handle no problems.

I ran a normal clutch plate and a heavy heavy duty press plate on my last car, that was real nice to drive on the road and was real bity when u changed through the gears.
New car im running a 4 puk with a Heavy duty TRD pres plate, and its not nice to drive in traffic as you dont wana slip the clutch and it shuders heaps.

dyno will be this week at shore performance, which isnt good to compare dyno results with others on here as it reads way lower than most. Just using this one cos we know the guy and just want it for tuning.
