Idling problem

Postby 20v_rollaboy » Sun Apr 09, 2006 1:32 pm

Took the battery out of my 20v yesterday, used it in my other car and then put it back. Problem is now my car idles at 2k when cold and around 1.5k when warm.

Havnt touched anything, except take the battery out and put it back

Anyone have any ideas as to why this is???

Thanks

when you removed the battery the computer lost its memory so its trying to figure out what speed to idle at. it should come right
want a ae86, dont want to pay 8 grand for one
have to settle for my ae92

wat the hell?

The computer doesnt lose anything.

I would say if anything has changed, its becuase you have knocked something and made a vacuum leak.

come on man
think
ecu................................ set fuel maps and ign timing

u reset it buy either disconnecting the power supply " the battery " yopu are wipping all the maps in the ecu... this can cause idol errors and or running rich/lean for a few mins

This was a problem for a couple of days, not a couple of minutes.

Anyway the problem is now sorta fixed. We retarded the timing a bit and adjusted the screw on the AFM.

Also I think the fact that my VVT pulley is stuffed isnt helping the problem :(

Another problem I might add is that in traffic or when Ive been idling for a while the engine seems to pulse by itself. Like the revs will drop to like 400 and then spike up to 1200. Anyone got any ideas??

Did you by any chance loose coolant by taking off a hose etc? and yes ecus do loose their memory by disconnecting the battery, well some do anyways

I do know that my waterpump is leaking, so I have to top it up everyday because I sit in about 2 hours of traffic each day

Once you replace the pump and top up and bleed the cooling system your idling problem will be no more, its got nothing to do with disconnecting the battery.

tnt is spot on. intially i thought it was just cos you had taken out the battery. didnt relise you were loosing coolant. the air in the cooling system will be confusing the idle speed controller

and as for this.
