NO, That is why if you get caught speeding they should insist on showing you that you were speeding on their Hawk readout so they have something to fall back on.
I would be fighting this as well.
This mongrel bastard can't do what he did.

Wrong.
They can pace you from behind and give you a valid ticket if: 1. their car speedo has been calibrated and has a current cert, and they follow the required policy of x meters and taking the average.

Guys, My mum is a policewoman and what I said came directly from her and she knows, she has to, its her job.

And I don't get the part about his speed minus yours, sounds like hes just buggering you round. (not that buggery has anything remotely to do with the situation at hand.)
Yeah my mum worked in traffic years ago, not anymore though, shes sort of moved round quite a bit and has gone back to a non-sworn member in the communications centre.

My mum got pulled over for doing 70 in a 50k zone, my mum explaind to the cop, No no i live down the road this is defantly a 70k zone.
Non the less the cop Insisted she was in the wrong but would allow her off with a warning, but was very essuring that it was a 50k zone and she was speeding.
Later that day we checked out the road, Porchester rd if memory serves right in manurewa, and sure enought just up the road was a 70kph zone sign.
To add insult to injury my mum works for the police HQ in Otahuhu, non the less nothing was done but if it was ME in her postion i bet i would have got a ticket where as an adult in a family car she got a warning, non the less i can understand your frustration as it can happen that mistakes are made, and i find it hard to belive that there are cases where police abuse there position, everyone one else in other jobs does it why not them?
Bad mood take it out with some flashing lights, and stiring up an argument they KNOW they can win as they have the GOVT behind them.
A tad off the topic at hand but i guess to sum up what im saying, Im behind ya and you should fight it despite the fact your Garanteed to lose.
