Gear stick Knob

Postby Zyros » Thu Apr 27, 2006 3:12 pm

Okay, this is by far going to be the stupidest thing to ask in a technical forum

My gear-stick knob is massively high, due to the stick being way to long..
I want to shorten it, but im not sure how to go about this.

If i hack saw it, then i would be cutting off the thread's on the stick which are used to screw on the gearstick knob.

If i glue it or whatever, its impossible to remove if i ever had to eg- Removing the pannel etc.

Any idea's on how to shorten my gear stick, yet be able to still change the gear-stick knobs when needed?

Raise the seat in an ae92 and you'll _need_ to cut the roof off.

Easiest way is to cut a section from the middle and weld it back together. You need to chamfer the section before you weld to get a good join

I find the easiest way is to cut, then drill the top of the new length, tap, insert bolt minus head and presto, done.
but thats being assuming of peoples abilities to drill and tap of corse.

just dont go around saying you have a short shift stick....
