That would be because of the high compression....

actually, as I understand it, it is because the cylinder walls are only 3mm(might have been 5?) and 1mm(on either side) is the sleeve that the pistons are in...

I was meaning thrown sideways as in from one cylinder to the neighbouring one, +ve pressure on one side, -ve pressure on the other side, only thing holding them apart being very thin aluminium(and the sleeve), from what I've read...

anyway, 10psi is a whole 4psi above where this kit sits factory... the greddy kit does 8psi and isn't intercooled at all 8O now that would worry me.

Good on you for doing your own thing instead of following the masses.

Everyone is always going on about how turbo's are always better but not everyone is looking for the same thing. Go the supercharger!!!

Oh by the way way how the hell are you going to put up with that noise all the time when you complained about your exhaust sounding like a 20V. Perhaps a switch to turn of the supercharger?? could also come in handy if the cops try to get you for excessive noise.... Not me officer I'm just driving this nice corolla, it must of been someone else, why of course I can give it a rev for you

Oh and just to beat the rush, when it is done I call SHOTGUN at the first meet.

The noise is only there when you push the car hard, it is on an electric clutch, and can be disabled/switched, and the ECU just "gets" it.

On a slightly more serious note I read today that the lotus exige (elise with a roof) is now available with a supercharger on its 2zz engine. I wonder how much they charge for the lotus embosed cam covers??

well a new gearbox for it costs a tad over 11k US last time I checked compared to ~3k for a new one for my 2zz... and supposedly(part number is different, the lotus has an additional 1 on the end, and fits the MRS apparently, although it is expected to be stronger due to the MRS having the 1zz, and the Exige the 2zz*) they are the same as the MRS GB, which is considerably cheaper.

It also looks like there is a slight change with the configuration of the gearbox where they make it so that the GB slots(as in forward rear movement) is slightly angled to assist with cutting down what has been termed "YAMS" by 2zz owners, YAMS stands for "Yet Another Miss Shift", which apparently kills oil pumps, bends valves, cracks blocks# and stuff when the engine skyrockets into high revs very quickly.

*do I read too much?
#sound familiar? it did to me... I didn't do it though, maybe the previous owner did?

oh yeah.. Cam covers... the Toyota ones are $374 as of ~three months ago, I'd imagine that the Lotus ones(it appears to be in two parts like the celica GTS) is a fair bit more.

Celica GTS

Although it is hard to tell from that angle.
Also for a comparison have a look at the Pontiac Vibe GTS(I think) as they have a single piece like mine should.

I looked around for one for a while, but the ones(2) I looked at, had a lot of play on the shaft, and didn't seem to turn particuly well, which they should when not attached to anything.

I had considered doing it myself(with a Rotrex SC, looks like a half snail with a pulley instead of the exhaust bit), and yeah I could probably do it a bit cheaper if I did, and it may well end up being like that due to having a bitch of a time trying to get info from the Blitz agents.
