Speedometer bouncing...

Postby Wolf_Tm250 » Sun Mar 26, 2006 11:28 pm

Hi All !

I have a problem with my speedo
when I use the car, it's always bouncing nervously ...

Please look here:

http://wolf250tm.altervista.org/Video/W ... 200602.WMV

I thought it was a sensor plug problem, but it's ok...

What could it be then ? The sensor itself ?

The digital conversion of the Motec ecu ??

TIA !

Bye...

Hello,

I put out the sender, but the toothed wheel wasn't damaged...

I still have to understand why my speedo bounces !!!

I cant view the vid, but depending how much it bounces your car may have had its speedo wound. As you are decelerating... if it bounces slowly back up slightly, it could be that. Are your Km's certified?

Vvega,

yes, the speedo is electronic.

I put out the sender, found a toothed wheel, a magnet and a 3 pin plug...
probably the sender is a little electricity generator...

MY car/speedo is 90.000 kms old, and the speedo is bouncing especially when accelerating...

Thank you, bye...

This problem can be becuase of the bad ground either in the engine bay area or speedo area, check if all screws behind speedo are tight and not corroded.
Or dry soldering inside of the speedo (arround "stepper" motor area)..

Had this problem with my old gearbox, put a new one in and the problem went away. The sender looked fine, no damaged teeth or anything but something inside it must have been faulty cos the new one has been been fine for the last 770K kms.

if you can find someone with the same gearbox try swapping them over and seeing what happens (i assume they aren't too hard to get at on a gt4?)
