50k on the speedo is actually 53 or so, 100 is 105 etc, helpful when looking out for cops or cameras. It is a 3% difference in tyre size on my car, doesn't sound like much but it does make a difference. Plus factory speedos, and tachos for that matter aren't always accurate. My tacho can show 2100rpm and the rsm will be at 1900 or so.

could you mount it in behind the perspex right down low or up high with the gauges to make it a but less obvious for thieves.

Theres a button on it, so you would have to make a hole for that, and I dont think there would be much room in there unless I actually removed the speedo/tacho

as long as it is within 5% it is legal, however seeing as it's not part of the WOF check, I'm not sure how you are supposed to know about it being correct or not, has anyone ever had theirs checked? if so where?

I have a friend with a gps unit who found a decent straight and went up n down at different speeds, his speedo was warping the speed, sometimes it would be quicker on the speedo, sometimes it would be slower on the speedo, I have never seen it change through out the range before, only keep faster/slower

I know of a place in Auckland, they put the car on a rolling road to simulate a set speed and check the speedo against it. Costs about $40.

In the case of my cable driven speedo, they make a reduction box from gears which screws to the gearbox then the cable into that.

Did a power run with the RSM, gave me 103PS, which is 101HP or so, which brings it in with about 76kw according to the rsm. I think it was around 6900rpm or so...
Kinda average for a completely stock silvertop?

Average because it's what you can expect from a stocker.

Personally I'd have mounted it in #3, in the flappy thing so you can open it up & there it is, no need to have to remove it when you leave the car, but like you say, it'd be a pain in the ass to make work.

I woulda thought it would have been more. My civic is 1500 dual carb and its got 105ps (77kw) @ 6500rpm so i woulda thought it was more than that

Won't that figure be at the flywheel?
Dirtbag's 76kW will be at the wheels.
