4age bluetop issues

Postby rwd_mayhem » Fri May 12, 2006 4:04 pm

just got myself an 86 celica fwd and it has a bluetop 4age TVIS, when i put my foot down it sort of cuts out for a second jerks and then starts to take off, this also happens when changing gears under full acceleration, whats the problem? hows it fixed?

also just today, only the once when i floored it the revs went down instead of up, i found that very strange and it fixed itself after 1 minute and went back to normal.

cap/rotor/leads/plugs?

mite also be a dinky tps. mines also suspicious i give it a tap with the screwdriver for minor adjustment sometimes clears it up (not recommended)

check basics first, could be incorrect/faulty plugs? lead? cracked cap?

Check the throttle butterfly as well.

When I had the head & everything else off doing the CAM belt etc I found a build up of what I assume was carbon, end result was that it caused the butterfly to sick when ever it felt like it, after a light sand this was resolved.

Once all back in the hesitation was gone

had a similar thing with my car after the conversion, but it was my dizzy wiring which was faulty. may not be your wiring, but your dizzy may be getting the wrong information/sending the wrong signals as mine was.

It could be really slow under 4000 due to the TVIS butterflys being stuck open or removed (between inlet manifold and head)...

Could feplace the fuel filter also- they can cause a bit of hesitation/cutouts when getting on in age and a little clogged

i did the plugs, leads, air filter, cleaned out the throttle body and it has improved it a little bit, but still a bit of a hesitation, maybe its the way im driving. ill have to do the fuel filter and see what happens
