Temp Gauge problems?

Postby ollieboy » Mon May 15, 2006 11:56 pm

In my car it shows the temperature as above 250 degrees before the cars even started and it doesn't change when warmed up. Could this be a sensor problem or gauge? Or even earth? Is there an easy way to check which? If sensor can I use any replacement sensor? Its some aftermarket gauge, I can't see a name on it but I have seen them at supercheap before.

I'm stumped.

Cheers in advanced

Most of those guages go up with resistance to ground going down.

Ie, if its way up, then the sensor wire is getting a ground signal.

Look for a short, or where it connects to the sensor, is a strand of wire touching a place its not meant to?
