Get a quote from two different places to have them fixed and have everything organised when you go to the small claims court, if you present your case well you have a much better chance of them ruling in your favour. Make a long diary entry of what happened that day including times etc so you don't forget anything if they try to challenge stuff you say.

The person hearing the case will try to mediate the situation first so make it clear they caused the damage, point out you asked them if they could safely change them without damage first and that curbing can't make a gouge on the face of the rim. You want money from them to pay to have them fixed, don't let them 'agree to have them fixed' otherwise they'll try shaft you and have them fixed by some mate. You want to walk out of there with money awarded to your name .

Well just been back down to the tyre place to give them the quote and give them the option to settle out of court!
They said that took a sample of my paint from the rims and that there was something wrong with the paint that is why it flaked off!!
But the problem was that they have DENTED the rims not just taken the paint off!!
So of course they denied the option to settle out of court, so off the small claims court we go!!!
They are such w**kers, and make me so damm grumpy grrrrrrr

Thanks heaps for that Josh :)
I will get on to it straight away!

I can only get the quote from the one place, as they are the only place that can do it :(

I hope it all works out for you Beccy, the d!cks that did the damage certainly aren't taking the easy option for themselves...and they deserve it! :x

Hmmm, that reminds me.

I wouldn't really recommend going to the tyre shop opposite the Mt Cook etc turnoff in Washdyke (just north of Timaru).
They fitted two different tyre types to my GTS-4 Skyline (only supposed to have one tyre type) along with the third tyre type already on the back of the car and the car has been running bad ever since (a simple tyre change would solve it i suspect, but that will be expensive as i don't want budget/no grip tyres - may be unrelated, but the front driveshaft thing that transmits power to the front wheels has a bit of play in it).

May have new people in there now, but am still kinda annoyed at them.

define different type of tyre?? as long as the rolling radius is the same, then there should be no issues.
not wanting to make an issue of your circumstanses, but , i don't believe the guys at the place you are dragging down, would fit unsuitable tyres unless the customer demanded them (read - priced accordingly).
i persoanlly would put FULL trust in the team from where you bought your tyres.

Besides, I was under the impression that GTS4s are predominantly RWD, until the atessa system senses slip, and engages drive to the front wheels.. so as fangsport said, even with different tread types, as long as the rolling resistance is the same, you shouldn't have any problems. Well, aside from maybe a slight tendency to pull to one side on launch, if one tyre was SUPER grippy, and the other was a cheap crap "unlop" or "umho", hahah! But even then it would be barely noticeable.

What kind of problems are you having?

I ALWAYS go to Budget tyre and auto in town, they're cheap and fawwwst! I've taken most of my 45-odd cars to them, never once had a problem.

Good luck on the court case. You have a winner. Take them for all their worth! (well, up to $1500 at least).

Yeah i'm not really sure what the deal is. All we know is that it was perfect before we went there (four Continental Contisport, 205/55/R16 91v tyres) and after we left (don't know how long after as this was when Dad still owned the car) it was playing up (two of the above tyres at the back, and a Kingstar 91v tyre on the front left with a Bridgestone 89v on the front right).

All it does is just judders the wheels (like you're going over a million tiny potholes) at over 80 km/h and the 4WD/torque split needle is constantly bouncing up and down from the 1 (or something) mark. Only goes completely flat (the way it should be) when stopped obviously.

And as i said, the place may not be that bad anymore. It was a young guy who worked on it, and we bought one second hand (Bridgestone) and one new tyre (Kingstar) which is what i think the guy recommended.

And sorry for getting off-topic Beccyboo.

i rest my case. if you had purchased 2 new tyres, would there have been an issue??..........i think not.

BTW, the business has been in the same hands since it opened.

court adjourned.

now back to the real criminals.

the marks on Beccy's wheels are obviously from eiter A) the bead breaker, B) the tyre iron or C) allowing the beading foot to come in direct contact with the rim.

there is no way (not even an arrogant SA could win) an arguement over curbing exists as, the damage due to curb contact is is more of a grating effect.
Good luck.

NEXT!!!

I asked if they could on some letter head of theres, state they had already put tyres on these rims with no problems and that a poor job had been done! And they were sweet about it As long as i go back to Tonys now on :) YAY :) So I will be picking that up in the next few days :)

That's great, and the best thing you can do for them, is write a letter to their head office explaining what they did with praise.
But yes, thumbsup to Tonys :)
