Apexi PFC boost control issue

Postby MrBob » Wed Jun 21, 2006 11:17 am

hello. Im running a pfc with the boost conrol kit (s-avc soleniod), and external wg. Ive been told that it will not function correctly with an external wg. Anyone had any experience with this combination ? is there a different way to plumb the solenoid when using an external wg ?
its doing a very poor job of controlling boost so far.

any help appreciated
thanks !

I'm pretty sure Cliff (Adydas) is running the same setup as you on his 185. He's using a Blitz WG from memory. I'm not 100% sure whether it is running yet or not but might pay to PM him and have a wee bit a chat?

friend is running a powerfc in his sr20 S14. he said that the ecu is very good, but the boost control leaves a little to be desired, so runs a seperate boost control. could be a thought.

Yes, yes there is :)

Pressure feed --> TEE PIECE ---> one line to solenoid then to the top of the WG, OTHER line goes straight to the bottom port of the wastegate. This only applies to electronic controllers.

With a manual controller, it just goes to the bottom port only - as you already know.

Also, make sure when you do that, let it know its controlling an external wastegate. I don't have personal experience with the PFC boost control, but the AVCR needs to know how you're doing things and I'm assuming it works in the exact same fashion, it'll be in the options menu somewhere :?

thanks, sadly I dont think the PFC has an option for selecting between wg types. Can find nothing in the manual about it.
