Caldina Sounds...

I was thinking about replacing the factory speakers in the doors of my 98 Caldina and am really keen to know what size they are so I can buy them now, install them later and without taking the door panels off.. so if anyone could please help with speaker size in inches or cm's that would be wicked! Oh and one more thing... where is my aerial?? so I canmake it better? - thanks in advance!

if you get components your gonn have to take door panel off anway to wire up cross overs etc etc. Also what is modern speakers have massive mounting depths compared to stock, so spacers might be needed.

We upgrded our sounds recently, our factory fronts were 5 1/4" but we replaced those with 6" components

As for the aerial, you just need to get a signal booster/amplifier (about $30 from supercheap) - (the aerial is in the rear quarter windows)

Yep we needed spacers - used snwtoys method of using cookie time lids works perfectly!

Awesome.. thanks! just another point... Is it easy to do? Like can I just put 6" speakers in, spacers and put the door panel back on so no-one knows you have more than factory speakers? and does the signal booster go behind the headdeck? Pardon my ignorance! - Cheers

Yep signal booster can go behind head deck.
As for the speaker install - my partner did it for me, and I heard a few nasty remarks along the way so I'm guessing it may get a bit tricky

But yeah they are now nicely tucked in behind the door panel

re: spacers. Ive just installed some fusion comps. what i did was pop the grill out of the speaker cover that came with the speakers and used that as the spacer. Just drill some holes to attache to exsisting speaker mount and then screw speaker in, works a treat and no extra $$

Regarding the signal booster - I didn't install and additional one, and my reception is AWESOME (aftermarket hu).

There is a factory booster, which you need to connect to the remote wire of your stereo (if you're replacing it). The standard tuner is crap.

Awesome!!where abouts is that found? and what if you have an amp attached to the remote part of your Head deck?

Depending on the head deck, you may have a separate 'aerial' output which you can connect to the signal booster. Otherwise you should hook the amp remote and signal booster wires together, and connect to the 'remote' from your deck.
