Wow, encouraged to ticket two people an hour... interesting.
Ok let’s 'assume' the average ticket is for $100.00, so that is $200.00 an hour and over an eight our shift that is $1600. I'm not sure how many Police officers there are, however if we were to say 5,000*
(lets hope some are off duty or solving nasty crime) So that is 8,000,000.00 in a working day. And to be fair that isn't going to be too realistic so let chop a couple of million off that for safety sake.
So 6 million times 365 days.... $2,190,000,000.00
Wow!
So if those are real figures
(which of course they are assumed by the writer of this post) imagine the potential the police force has for paying its way. Crickey no wonder all you young guys get targeted. You have lots of deposable income pay this quota/target. Hrmmm Sounds like a good business plan to me.
*The effective strength of the police at 30 June 1999 was 6,908 sworn personnel, giving a full-time equivalent (FTE) of 6,876 sworn officers (6,760 at 30 June 1997).
