Anyone here turbo a stock 20v blacktop?

I am just curious about the results if anyone has done this here. I understand about the Z engine having lower compression and "better" to turbo etc, not interested. I just want to hear if anyone has done it... obviously a computer is needed etc, lets take those things as a given.

And Phil, no I am not planning on doing this...

The search algorithm on this forum is terrible, its easier to ask current owners so further specific questions can be asked. But thanks.

need new plenum.

i would say it will be strong enough for 5psi max or arounds abouts.

It is easy if you know the key words in the thread your looking for, ie. you have read it before.
If not its actually not that easy.

Try searching like this:

turbo AND stock AND blacktop....I got 21 matches by doing that.

Yeah I know whats needed to turbo it, just looking for peoples results power wise... I will try searching again and see if anyone has dyno charts up, which is what I am really looking for.

I believe Nick from NZEFI used his turbo setup from his old motor and put it on a stock silvertop 20v in his aw11, he was racing one day when I was at Ruapuna did something like 12.8 @ 108mph.

I did the same search, seems only one of those was about turbo charging a stock blacktop looking at the headings and that was with the factory ECU and no actual people who have done t seemed to pop up with facts about it powerwise.

Hmmm I forgot about Nicks engine, I should have remembered since he is my flatmate and drove that car a bit before it took up smoking 2 packs a day lol I will have to ask him more when he comes back from holiday...

Will make more power than a tru blacktop would safely.

And wasnt that on race fuel/ avgas mixture?

Was in an early rev mag, 170kw atw with ht18 i think, on 18psi, stock silvertop.

And the difference in compression is huge, id put my dollar on it blowing awful quick. less than 2000km's maybe

Well, people actually stated there was info by doing searches, but even that didnt provide any valid results! People may be too quick to pull the search call :)
