Is this starting from cold?

If so, and it goes down to a more normal idle (around 1000, probably just below) then don't worry about it.

If it won't go down, then it's something you will need to look into.

As slighty_sykotic said: If it revs that high when its cold, then its perfectly normal, when it gets to temp it should be idleing >1000, and if so, all good.

Of course, if its revving a little to high when warm, just ajust the idle control on the throttle body (little screw)

Your car is EFI so it does not have a choke as such. And that seems about consistant with my 3s-ge. Idle is around the 800rpm mark.

yea it sits at 800rpm when it gets nice and warm but when it gets there a belt starts to squeek/wine a little, which i think may need a little tweak. but its not doing anything wrong at the moment i think

Yeah my 4age does that... you just need to tighten the belt ever-so-slightly... aparently one of the wheels strips its outward facing teeth after a while meaning continuos tightening is required.... happens to me about every 2000ks
