I've never had any problems with dimming lights either, as dimming lights is simply caused by voltage drop. What IS important is how the battery holds up under load and whether the voltage drops as it provides power. Hence why medium output deep cycles (Optima, etc) work better than supposedly higher output starters
Or to explain another way - you want a battery that can do steady, moderate current over a long time, rather than one with a massive burst of current for a few seconds and then goes 'phut'
