I've had my "red circled thing" unplugged for the last few days, with the pipe coming from the throttle body plugged up. No huge difference, just idles a lot lower when you've got the lights/heater etc going. Doesn't seem to affect anything else that I've noticed.

That big black box coming off the intake.. is a resonator. Its' purpose is to quieten down the induction noise of the motor so basically = not really needed, unless you like it quiet..

thx bro, we lucky to get the facelift AE92, i have been lookin it 4 a while. and gonna get a full EXHAUST system from the engine, 4-1 header and hopefuli can get the nice cams and cam gears from the bluetops which r cheap and helps alittle bit. Still, any idea how to make a real air intake system to fit our car such as pipes that can put the plugs and vacum hose in, cheers

Well I dunno eh, I've found that most off-the-shelf pod filters have a 3" inlet, whereas the 4AGE throttle body is only 2.5". I was looking at getting a 2.5" 45 degree silicon elbow, a length of alloy with a 2.5" to 3" silicon reducer, with a 3" pipe to the pod filter. Pretty expensive and a wee bit unnecessary, the other option is to just look harder for a pod filter with a 2.5" inlet, and just use the factory rubber pipe with the hole for the resonator blocked off, use a short length of 2.5" alloy piping to connect the pipe to the pod. Cheap, and will do the same job.

RS13 wrote:Its' awesome! I've owned all manner of FWDs, turbos, vtecs, and none have come close to the amount of fun I'm having with this one! Such a nicely balanced, chuckable chassis, very predictable, and outstanding turn-in.. could do with a little more power out of corners, but I'm working on it! Looks like blacktop extractors, pod filter setup, and a decent tune will be the extent of my mods for the time being, I'm looking around for a decent set of good bang-for-buck lowered coils too, if anyone has any recommendations?

What sort of suspension does it have? I have TRD coils in standard shocks (going to get KYB adjustables) and I get understeer. My ae100 has chris amon components and handles like a dream with slight oversteer but similar control to the ae92. I want the neutral/slight iver steer in the ae92

if ur talking to me all i have is a pod, extractors and 2 1/4in exhaust i spose its given it a little more, if u want to rev a bit better get some bluetop cams and if its your daily driver i would say no to aftermarket cams as they have bugger all down low as it is

between now and turbo all im going to do will be batt in bootso room for cold air box and some bluetop cams

and when u able to get some pics up and i can know how i gonna use the same set up to get a pod done
