ST205 Boost pressure without TVSV

Postby sergei » Fri Jul 14, 2006 12:17 pm

What is the stock boost pressure on ST205 (WRC) and what is the pressure with TVSV (boost control solenoid) disabled?
Tried searching and ended up with 1.0-1.2bar range, and 0.75bar with TVSV disabled. Can some one cofirm this?

My ST205 has had the boost control solenoid removed and the pipe blocked. The actuator alone keeps it around 0.5 bar (7ish psi).

My Profec settings above that are of course irrelevant to stock cars.

The thing why I am asking, I've tried on the bench to apply pressure to wastegate acutator and observe how much it does open. On my steel "CT20b" it opened fully (~70degrees to turbo) at about 1bar. With 0.5 bar I only got ~30 odd degrees of opening..

I just took out my celica for a drive for first time with new turbo, I got ~1Bar boost with boost controller off, and hose to TVSV blocked... Is this normal?
Turbo is steel CT20b brand new.

Sounds high. Like I said, I get around 0.5 bar, which does creep up to 0.8-0.9 at higher 5000+ rpm in higher gears.

i'm using xspower down pipe, I've checked if it is not iterfering with wastegate operation (it is not)... I'll see if I have boost creep problem on higher gear.

this is not boost creep, as it does not goes higher than 13psi in any gear. My boost peaks up till 16-18psi (depends what setting I use) as because scramble function of the EBC, and then levels off at 13psi (with gain 0). if I turn off EBC turbo does not spool as fast but has 13psi flat...
With scramble function boost is almost instantenious. 4th gear on motorway is very scary...
