he never said it couldnt, it was more a " Do you realise the extreem cost " when if you want a RWD car you could just buy a Toyota Supra ( if you wanting to stick with Toyota, or go nissan.

If i was going to throw money at a doomed project like this, i'd personally go with mk2 supra and put the engine and running gear from a gt4 in it.

In saying that, i don't have 10s of thousands of dollars to throw away ;)

mmm, seeing as most gt4 running gear fits the currens it was just a thought.

As far as I understand though the rear diff doesn't fit in without serious floor mods. Also the space taken up by the gearbox in a transverse engine 4WD is in the engine bay so you need a whole new tunnel for a RWD box. Steering rack will be in the wrong place too. If you are serious, full chassis it. Most cost effective way to address all the issues you have to overcome.

EDIT: D'oh beaten. Read above! ^

Nah the chassis is different with FWD currens and Celicas, they dont have the huge transmission tunnel, or space at the back for the rear diff etc.

oh ok then

in that case:

buy st205 wreck
buy st206 curren

strip both cars
cut centre tunnel and boot floor from both cars and swap over. dont forget to have cert guy inspect all work. you will need a repair cert.
remove st205 running gear and suspension and fit into st206
rewire st206 to suit st205 ecu etc.

yes thats a much easier way

That's all bollocks, you can do the swap in a weekend, I've read that on 6gc.net so it must be true.

Interesting, I thought it it was a modification it was covered by your mod cert. Only needed a repair cert if the car is noted as being damaged?
Just curious as my certifier has never mentioned the need for a repair cert on my car with different firewall, trans tunnel and rear floor for IRS.

actually im not 100% sure on that
when i enquired about adding another air vent into the passebger side of my aw11 i went to a panel beater and they said that as it required cutting and welding of a structual section it would require a repair cert.

in hindsight i think a cert would cover it
