The more modern Atlantics have gotten a little boring with a 9.5k rev limit, cams, ports, TB's to match. They still pull 240'ish HP's though. Pretty impressive out of a little 1589cc engine.

More Expensive to run

A reciprocating motor that pulls in excess of 10,000rpm is going to be far less reliable than a rotary ;)

Much like a PP motor, lifespan is measured in hours.

How heavy is the AE86 gonna be? I recall a few people saying that an atlantic engine would be a waste of time in anything more than 600kgs, due to their absolute lack of power below some stupid RPM level, like 6000 or something, haha.

Although IIRC this was due to the cam spec, which was limited for the sake of the competition class.

Dont quote me on that though, I'm a self confessed 4AGE noob.
Just a thought.

Things like flywheel weight will help fight that problem but a really light AE86 can be under 600kgs. My Race-car that is still road legal, full glass, many bar cage, no real weight savings except fibreglass bonnet is 870kgs.

With how much gas? My car must have a heavy bonnet as with 3/4 of a tank of gas, basically standard GTV it came in at 990kg. Scales are accurate to +or- 5kg.

Not true. I saw it on Initial D, therefore it must be true.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Well this engine is destined for my ae 86 that I had started fitting a 1uzfe into, but without cutting the car to bits the V8 sat to high , to far forward, and just didn't look right for the balance that is required to make a car go fast . I had competed in a couple of events in my 16valve ae86 and a 1uzfe rx7 with all the good bits I was faster , and a 1uzfe ae86 was not all that much faster that my mild 16valve on a open flowing 7km tarmac rallysprint. So i went away rethinking what I was going to achieve by building this car any further.
So I knew of this engine and bought it . The car will probably only be used for track work as i don't see it being drivable on the road .
It will run a T series rear end and a t50 box as per the N2 cars of the time , so I amagine it will weigh in about 850kg or less as my tarmac rally car with glass bonnet and gaurds only is about 930kg , ready to rally .
With the dry sump set up it allows the engine to sit a little lower and can be pushed back a bit as well . My aim is to have it as close as posible to the N2 spec that these cars were raced in . I have the complete N2 TRD manual so I know what I need to do
Every one can try and tell me it wont work but at least I'll know because I will have done it .
