Differences???

Postby TRD_ZERO » Thu Sep 28, 2006 5:17 pm

Are There any differences between the silver top and blacktop block? besides rods and pistons? Does the silver top have oil squirters? Can any1 help? And what was the verdict on 4agze pistons are they forged as bazda said that when his melted he showed someone in the know and they said they wernt forged but then Revhead said they are? Correct me if im wrong. I dont want the indepth lowdown i just want a straightforward answer yes they are or no they arnt. Thanks

i read thers 3 types of 4agze pistons, from each era. the 88-90 (afm) 4agze had semi forged. then the 90-91 (map) has forged and ceramic coated pistons. and the 92-95 had snap ring, lightned and forged pistons. thats the OEM specs i believe

There is no such thing as semi forged. How on earth do you perform part of a forging process? Is the other part semi-cast?

All ZE pistons are forged. Toyoya use a higher carbon content alloy to stop piston slap when cold. Hence they are forged pistons, better than cast, but not as good as a quality aftermarket forging.
