VVT Trouble

Postby RevolutionStarlet89 » Mon Oct 16, 2006 3:28 pm

OK so i got my vvt light and switch in to turn it on-off-auto.....BUT, when the switch is on auto (like normal vvt) the light will come on if i lightly press the accelerator.. My car has been converted from auto to manual before i brought her and the comp has been changed to a beltronics 1 i think, not sure thou. From what ive herd when vvt is on when the car is idling it makes it idle really rough but mine dosn't do anything.... Any1 got any ideas??????

i helped him do it and its hooked to the 7th wire from the left on the 26 pin plug, exactly the same as mine, except his wire isnt the same colour as mine, neither are some of the others in that vicinity...
and na tps is on another plug to the ecu....

Does it not say what the pins are if you take the cover off?

Then if its the correct wire (which I still don't believe), what have you got connected to it?

A led with a resister to a 12v+ supply? Nothing else?

well if its the wrong wire then its different to every ecu pin diagram i have ever seen, and different to my car which is the same as his.

its connected to a switch, vvt solenoid on centre pole, ecu on the other pole and ground on the other pole with an led running off the vvt solenoid wire to 12v supply with resistor etc.

im convinced his vvt does not work at all because with the engine off and the key on u can hear my solenoid activating wen u flick the switch but with his it does nothing.
also, wen driving, his vvt light comes on with even a slight press of the accelerator, so doing 80-90km/hr in 4th gear the light is constantly on. and with WOT the light goes off, even wen ur doing low revs.....

You do realise that auto and manual ECU's have completely different pinout's ?

Wasn't his converted from auto to manual, probably still has the Auto ECU as I doubt anyone would bother changing the whole loom to convert to manual.

ok we never thought that it would still have an auto ECU!!! have found the right wire now, but im sure that VVT is not currently working as a factory car would (ie it does not go at all). once we wire up the switch to the right wire we will of course be able to confirm this. but in light of the fact that this car is a manual with an auto ecu, should something have been done during the conversion to enable VVT to function?????
