What makes you believe that optimal power isn't reliable?

Brett tuned my Bunderson well (4age, offroader). However didnt get row one quite correct on overrun (which is very hard to do on a dyno). I was very happy with the way the car ran other than it flooded on overrun. Which Brett could have easily corrected given a chance.
After a rebuild and considerably more headwork I took it to Richard at DCH. The guy did a fantastic job, and I seriously couldnt recommend higher. The car ran perfectly, which isnt easy for a simple LEM 4, with no holes, no overrun issues, no accl issues and a bump to 177.5 bhp at the wheels.
Nick at NZEFI, although I have thrown little work thier way (look out for the rally lancer soonish) would certainly work with. I've spoken with him on many occasions and think that Nick and his team could produce both an install and map worthy of an investment.

chch34 didnt say optimal, he said big power. By definition the optimal "should" be a balance of many things. There is a fuel cut on over run check box in the software :)

Isn't optimal the most favourable or desireable result? It is in the Oxford dictionary. I simply meant a so called Wet tune can be more unreliable than one "on the edge".
Fuel cut on overrun, ummm not on the LEM 4. Perhaps, Brett (CCC), Gary (PAD), Gary (WAR), Richard (DCH) and I all missed that box.

Yup I am sure its in the dictionary, its just that you are putting words into chch34's mouth. He didnt say optimal, he said big power, big difference, big will be in the Oxford dictionary also. If by wet tune you mean rich and suffering borewash, personally I find "too" lean or "too" rich equally undesirable if they cause engine failure.

As far as the over run in the Lem 4. Go to section 8.1.1.1 in the manual. Here is the link to the instruction manuals http://www.linkecu.com/support/dlandswu ... /Downloads have a look for yourself.

I'm not putting any words into anyones mouth. I gather your argument is that optimal power isnt big power? As such big power isn't the most favourable or desired result? More than pedantic if you ask me.

In regards to fuel cut on overrun I suggest you look at the manual for the LEM4. ( I have two hard copies and a PDF copy locally if you wish to borrow them) Section 8.1.1.1 is in reference to overrun VACUUM on a map system. As I run 304 degree 415 thou lift cams and have little load differential I run TPS only. As stated I had an issue with row one.

Thanks for not putting words into anyones mouth while telling me what my argument is and making comments on what you said my argument was. Thats the nice thing about making up someones position for them, its so easy to argue against it. lol Incidently, by definition, optimal anything would be the most favourable outcome. All this is really off topic stuff, if you want to have this discussion (whatever it is), PM me. :)

I fail to understand your reasoning. I was attempting to get an understanding as to why you believed I was putting words into others mouths while you were dictating my stance. You stated
He didnt say optimal, he said big power, big difference,
and yet you believe that by me stating
optimal power isnt big power
is putting words into your mouth? Sounds awfully dictotorial to me.

If you wish to continue this further I suggest you PM me.

Are you overtly pedantic ? Or truly 12 years old?

A tuner that does a tune giving you car slightly less power but very reliable?

Still dont see where he said he believes "optimal power isn't reliable" like you said he did. Now, isn that ummmm putting words in peoples mouths? lol

Just sick of people making positions for others and skewing what they said so they can spew garbage out to make themselves feel more important because they like the sound of their own voice. Thats all.

Isnt that exactly what you are doing?

Dictating to me in regards to my own Link setup?

Attempting to alter my references based on a stupidly pedantic technicality? If you looked at each of the references in an unbiased, open manner then you can surely see the relivance.
I am a computer engineeer of 17 years. Have owned Links since 1999. Currently run two an LEM4 and a EvoLink. Have developed my own data logging and alert software for CE devices, and I'm currently porting it for plamOS.
So do you wish for me to state that every time I post my "garbage"? I suggest you do the same before posting your "garbage".

I likewise am sick of people attacking others based on idiotic pedantic statements.

What makes you believe that optimal power isn't reliable? What makes you believe the "rich" people dont choose the same tuner as those who dont have the same financial resourses?
Why do we base selection on personal references?

Shlt sorry for posting. I didn't post to start an arguement, I was just interested WHY your average Joe Bloggs would recommend their prefered tuner. Im getting my car tuned next week and wanted to know not only WHO to go to, but WHY.

My car is an '81 Corolla DX with a Link LEMV5 with a Z18et using a T3/T4 and all the supporting mods. With all your experience and knowledge of everything, who would you recommend i get to tune it?

My advice, go with the tuner you feel understands your needs best. Interview them and get the vibe of what they are about if need be. There are so few tuners in chch you will always find someone that has something bad to say about anyone of them. I have had various cars on the dynos at PAD, RE Sinclair, NZEFI, and CCC. They all did a reasonable job except I developed poblems after PAD's tune and he didnt address the issue. I am sure he does good work and has a decent reputation, my car wasnt suited to his dyno however.

PS I have slick tyres for the next event at Ruapuna! Mwahahahaha cant wait.
