Bouncy Ride

Postby tomo1985 » Tue Oct 24, 2006 6:40 pm

I have a Carib AE111 that rides very bouncy. I have after-market springs that are alot harder, I think the factory toyota struts cant control them. What struts would you suggest to help this problem? Id rather it ride firmer then softer.

get the shocks tested, if they are shagged, then just get factory replacements from Revhead. Beacuse, if your factory ones are shot, then they will act as you describe. If they are fine tho, i'd be a bit worried

Dont forget that upping your spring rate you should lower the compression and raise the rebound damping on any shock. Stock shocks may work, but you will be working them very hard, they will fail before their due time and wont be as successful at controlling the additional spring rate as an aftermarket shock.

I gather the reason you went higher spring rate was to control roll? I'd personally be aiming for a very low spring rate and use a large anti roll bar.

I have harder springs because i tow a heavy trailer and also like to push hard round corners. What is a harder aftermarket shock that would handle these harder springs

im not sure what spring rate but they are custom made by chamberlands in chch. Iv also had the shocks tested and they were all up to standard, What are some uprated shocks, i was looking at GA adjustables but $&#$% they want drug money for them.

kyb red's are good shocks and seem to handle most stiffer aftermarket springs well. If you catch a sale at supercheap they can be pretty cheap too
