any ideas to make extra power out of a 4afe,iv already got a pod filter, and was told upgraded plugs and leads wouldnt help at all,is this true, lookin for long term power,ie not octane boosters.

if you want any power youll have to turbo it, better to just put a 20v in it.

plug and leads will only really make a noticable difference if yours are $&#$%.

best way to get power out of a 4afe is to drive it to work to save gas money for your next car

there are a coupe of guys who have turbo'd their 4afe very successfuly
Do a bit of a search and you might find some good info.
Otherwise buy a 4age donor car of the same series/year and bolt all the goodness across.

Question...
What do you want? more power? better handling? bling?
Think about doing up the handling first... springs, shocks, replace swaybar bushes etc. This way it will be easy to cert when you go for more power.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

most people on here that have cars with different engines, have done it themselves so quotes will be hard to find, just cruise around local mechanics gettin quotes

To make power out of a 4afe.

How much u got?

cheaper mods include cold air intake, better flowing exhaust (not like the fe head can allow good flow anyway at higher revs).

Bit more $$$ and you could afford a very rungi turbo setup, nitrious.

and when you get a bit more $$$ you could replace everything to parts willing for boost (forgies etc), and a rather large turbo off the side, along with a new ecu :).

my suggestion for bang for buck. Nos.

What about them? Your going to spend more money than making it 4age and get less preformance. To make the most of Cams you need a new Ecu. That alone would be more than what it cost to put a 4age in.

do not work a 4afe... do not do it..

there wouldnt even be aftermarket extractors for 4af... even if they were, they would be making like 2hp. utter waste of time.

no.

For extractors you can use the 4-2 part from a 7afe then the 2-1 part from a Levin.

Turbo charging the afe engines seems to work well for a street car.

Listen to this man.

A 4age swap is not hard, and its not expensive.

Even if your not doing it your self, it will work out cheaper than messing with the FE.

Just put on a T88 turbo and you'll be fine. You won't have to change anything and the stock ECU will handle it. You'll be good for about 35psi. No worries.

Please let it also be noted that I am talking out of my ass :)
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Nah don't listen to the doubters!!!

Lotsa people turbo fe engines and the cam design lends itself to good spool and drivability down low. (be good around town etc)

running 5-8 psi would be pretty fun and if it all blows up you'll still have all the turbo bits to bolt onto a 4age if you so wish.
