Running an aftermarket BOV to atmosphere won't cause too many problems in a Gen II 3S-GTE, apart from slightly rich upshifts, and a slightly slower transition from off boost to on boost. However venting the stock BOV to atmosphere is likely to cause all sorts of problems because it's not just a BOV it's also a bypass valve. See

also what BOVs you running n how well does it perform over factory plastic ones. did u have a custom pipe made or did u just get a MR2 adapter.
Firstly the stock BOV is
NOT plastic, it's metal though IIRC it may have a plastic top. Also it's the best performing BOV for the 3S-GTE by far. Any other BOV, with the possible exception of a genuine HKS SSQV, doesn't even come close. That said two of my cars have other BOV's on them, one has a Blitz, the other is of unknown origin which is plumbed back, both use adaptor plates to fit the 3S-GTE, but I'd rather have the stock one as I have no desire for the psssst noise.
