regardless of weather you relighted or not they usually still give you your time don't they? At least they used to, Has the timing system gotten any better? Do they give you the occasional random times and then sometimes no time at all?

they changed the system last year or the year before i think. dont often get the random 160mph pass anymore. they did have to reset the timing quite a few times tho, not why why.
i didnt get a slip because the timing tree wasnt actually ready , they had reset it and it cycles through all the lights before its ready. i mistook that for the countdown as the marshal had dropped his arms and i thought it was ready. :oops: :oops: :oops:

It wasn't even a redlight, from a spectators point of view it looked like while they were staging Jeremy tweaked and just nailed it, hooked gears and went the distance. The starting lights were in the process of resetting, so wouldn't have got anything.

So whats the story with those lights? There were two "pre - stage" lamps then two "stage" lamps, do you just move forward till both pre stage lamps light up then stop? what are the "stage" lamps for, do they come on if you moved to far or what?

Most guys seemed to be launching on the last amber from what I could see...

2 pre stage , to get you into position ,you just creep up until both are lit up. then once you're both in position it goes down thru the 3 ambers then green.

i think they may have been faster than i remember last year , either that or im getting old :lol: theres really F all time to find your ideal revs for launch.

Thats why I wanted launch control with my new ecu, I mean some of you more experianced guys wouldnt need it, but I couldnt imagine anything worse than trying to get the revs right for launch with some car beside you on the limiter, would make me way nervous.

From what I could make out everyone seemed to launch on last amber before green, when do you get red lighted?? if you launch on the second to last amber??

As soon as you see the last amber light up, go for gold because it has a 0.4 of a second delay till the green lights up, so you shouldnt redlight unless you have lightning fast reactions.

not really, cause i found the same thing at meremere, i did a bigger burnout 8) than the other person so i'd always end up staging second. with no launch controller, i didn't have enough time to come up lightly to the line, get revs up to where i wanted, then pulse it, then look up at the lights and they've always just started, and i wasn't slow either at getting the revs up

was a hassle really, would even cut it fine the way they did it if i had the launch controller working, cause that still needs a second or two to build the boost on the line.

do they get the stage lights, and when he's ready pushes a button for the tree to start?

was frustrating for me thats for sure

You can do it by staging first beam, building your revs to where you want, then, once you can hold your desired rev point, slip your clutch slightly so you break the second beam, then watch the lights, and away you go. You just need to be in control of your nerves and know where your revs are

Yes it is just a teeny bit harder on your clutch whilst you're building boost, but it works well, without using launch control.

Just practice, thats all

(however in saying all of this, last time i was at meremere (toyota v honda drags, they used a single stage beam, which makes things a little trickier)

the funniest thing was watching the mx6 trying to get back onto the Trailer in reverse, as its front wheel drive the wheels kept slipping. Why he didnt just go up front first, i dont know. lol :roll:

The guy in the MX6 usually races in Sportsman DYO (or C8 for those regulars). AFAIK he's in the low 15's to high 14's. Have raced him a few times.

and he takes the exhaust off it, which makes it sound very horrid! :?
