why your motorsport car should have a roll cage...

This is my car after taking a corner too fast, getting sideways and the front cliping onto a bank sending the car into the air and landing on the roof, then rolling back on its wheels. Luckly the engine cut as the car hit the bank (circuit breaker) and it still starts and runs well.

I was bloody pleased with the time though, I was going all out on that run and I crashed just after the finish. My fault intirely, I owe so much thanks to hibiscus coast motorsport club for there fantastic reaction after the crash. Medics came straight away and everyone helped get the car back on the trailer and home again.

Im considering selling the 4agte, tyres, suspension and buying a whole new project to build up. Maybe a ke30, carnina or something along those lines. Even now I have plans to run a turbo however I have promised myself to go a little slower and learn to drive properly before going too fast again.

I have no regrets. The race was with a club, properly orginised and I take full blame for what has happened. Im happy it happened on the track where no one else was at immediate risk.

Physically I am 100%. I owe this to my harness and roll cage. Mentally Im ok, a little sad about the loss but will keep going and probably build up a new racer and get back into it

Its was a autocross, so a little speed can be had, hard to say how fast I was going at the time. Cahuna will be able to give a better description because he saw it happen.

Im considering getting an aw11, cage, suspension work and tyres and racing that, standard 4age for a while

Or maybe something else, just glad I live to keep going.

Indeed I saw the whole thing and it was definitely bad luck. Basically it was the standard FWD thing of lift-off oversteer - Dylan came across the finish line and there was a gentle corner after it. Unfortunately he lifted off and the arse came around, which would have been fine except for the 1 foot bank on the left... caught the front wheel and flipped the car over with good height, then landed square on the corner of the roof. Not the first person to spin there but certainly the first person to do any damage, so just bad luck.

On the good news front your time was good enough for 14th on the day (out of 41 competitors) - was very impressive! And you managed to get away before the rain came and turned the venue into a mud bath!

As mentioned at the venue we are all gutted and hope to see you out again soon.

My guess would be 50km/h-ish, since I'm in second gear in my car thru that corner (but you would have brushed off some speed with the car going sideways).

Are you going to say what happened when you took the car off the trailer???

Glad you're okay dude. Gutted you're cars gone. But like you say, onwards and upwards. New toy time. AW11 sounds like good fun.
Keep your engine till you decide I suppose. Just sell the turbo setup (or keep for future).
Guess you won't be driving at the motorkhanas in the new year...

Good selling point to put a cage in.. might have to look at installing even just a half cage into the supra.
