Im wanting to install a 4agze gearbox into my ae111 (blacktop). What will i need for it to bolt up? flywheel? clutch? cv shafts? or does it just bolt straight up no issues?
The 3rd and 2nd gear syncros are on thier way out they arnt bad but piss me off so i want a new gearbox and yes the plan is to turbo it in the long run. And even if i wasnt going to turbo it you make it sound like such a bad idea? is it?
itll make your car slower unless you have enough torque.
the ratios are different, the 20v won't be able to use it properly. the e series boxes are designed for a engine with torque at low revs revving to 6500rpm , the c series with the shorter ratios are designed for a high revving n/a to take advantage of it.
for example with a redline of 8500 rpm, my ae92 gtz gearbox does 110km in 2nd, and 165-170 in 3rd and some silly number on 4th.
if u put the gtz box on ur n/a eng, it will go liek shit between gear changes, the ratio drop from 2nd to 3rd is huge and same to 3rd to 4th compared to the n/a box.
thanks for that its really helpful, first and second is ok but i see the jump to third which is kinda crap but im turboing my car anyway and got told to get a gtz box for the turbo conversion and so here we go.
yeah c series ratios are heaps better than e series.
even for forced induction.
c series is good for 250ish hp.
having said that torque kills boxs not hosepower.
