wtf i just enquired with the local toyota for some prices on parts i needed.

i was quoted $96! for sump selant!

is it gold or does it come in a barrel!

Last time I went to an engineering shop and got a tube of stuff for about $23. Had enough to do about 6 4AGE sumps in it.

more like a window urethane.

most common stuff we sell at work is called 3bond its really good stuff and all the mechanics love it sells for about 40 bucks i think? its what nz gaskets recommend for sumps when they dont stock a proper gasket

Thats more like it, I used similar stuff to stop a leak from the sump bung. Surface where the sump and bung meet was slightly dented
One 4ag leak fixed, only 9 left to find

Buy the toyota stuff, Ive had no end of problems with the cheap shit repco/supercheap silicon gaskets on my 2et. Maybe a bit pricey but heaps better than having to pull your sump off a couple of times

Wurth Silicone Special 250 is what I used. Withstand 250-300 deg. C, comes in 70ml tube. Can't remember price.

Loctite product is plenty fine. Dunno about the CRC stuff though.

I used silastic in past with no problems, just make sure you have clean surface completely free from old silicone and oil, put on silicone, put on sump, finger tight the sump, wait 5-15 min tighten sump completely...
