Nice, around bathurst was icing on the cake!

Have been in Rick Kellys current porsche cup GT3 on a few hot laps at ruapuna. Little slower in a straight line than the v8's but it wasn't the speed that impressed me, was how well it stopped and cornered. Going sideways at 150 into the hairpin after the straight was impressive. The adrenaline hit was pretty good as I was feeling kinda depressed the next day

well now....
Fastest i've ever driven.. don't laugh. it was in a Suzuki Swift GTi, Mk1, 1300cc G13B engine.. I had it upto 210k.. it took ages to get there.. (this was 8-9 years ago), I was doing 7300rpm in 5th gear.. 7400rpm was the rev cut.. (this was an NZNEW car, no restrictions).

Most of the other cars i've had .. were limited to 180-190km per hour.. around the same time as I had Suzuki.. I had a 1986 NZNEW MR2 I had got to 200k.. didn't have anymore left in it.. but t had 200,000k's on the clock and was burning oil and leaving a trail of smoke..

My WRX Gets to 180 quite fast. but limiter kicks in soon after.. my current supercharged MR2 is imported, speedo only reads upto 180. havn't tried to go that fast in it..

you cant rely on a speedo for an accurate reading above 150km tho, i know im out by quite a large % over 180km.

a standard silvertop 20V gearbox will do 160 in 3rd gear just on redline, unless thats because of slightly bigger tyres?

unless your speed reading was from outside the car, the speedo wont know your tyres are X big etc etc, you could have mini wheels and be doing 50km/h when speedo is showing 180

At the Taupo A1GP meeting, the GT3's were 7 seconds (from memory) per lap faster than the NZ V8's

heh... thats with no wind/road resistance... most cars will also pull away in 4th gear quite happily on a dyno, doesn't mean that it'll work like that on the road.
