4AGE Bluetop Carby?

My mates got a Rolla Wagon with a Bluetop Carby?
How the hell does this work out? Revs to 11k - 12k its beyond me if ya ask...
Anyone elaborate on how it works?

Serious... but... how is it all timed and what not? Im very lost... Carbys dont have ECU's, and the engine is setup for injection which has an ECU... grr

several ways around it
you can buy an ignition only controller
or fit a dizzy of something else

carbied 4ages are supposed to have a bit more grunt, but I've never been in one myself to know for sure.

you can run the standard ecu, and basically just wire up the distributor, ignitor and temp sensor I think so it controlls the timing.

otherwise as mr revhead said, you can use modified 4k dizzys or something.

I'd say depending on carb sizing/brand/filter etc it would be possible to have more power. I'd say that the injected motor would more than like have more low down & mid range torque/power though unless you go a really onto it tuner. Seen it heaps of time with carbs, it easy to get them to make peak power but to get that peak power & produce the goods below that is the harder part, so much so that I even know of people custom making emulsion tubes to suit individual cars now just to get around the limitationsa of stock jets sizes etc.

Id say that a full tuned EFI set up vs a full tuned carby the EFI set up will make more power as there is less restriction in the EFI throttle bodys vs the carb's

Carbs FTW if you want a nice feeling engine,one with good throttle response etc.(and without heaps of serious mods like turbo etc) The latest carbs are almost as good as EFI in terms of efficiency.

Full tune as everything is optimised for max power on both engines, the only thing that is different is the induction/injection system.

If anyone thinks carbys make for a better feeling engine they are dreaming, i like having a wide powerband

itbs have all the benefits of carbs plus they are better.

and the weight of fpr sucks. you have dropped your booster and any unused bolts already right?

At WOT at high RPM, GOOD carbs are almost as good as and EFI setup.

The rest of the time they are not even close.

(Trying driving a car with twin webbers to the supermarket when it's cold for example.)

A. Anything can be converted to carbs. Just build a manifold.

A. No ECU, No rev limit.
