Damaged Engine Mount?

Postby astrae » Fri Jan 26, 2007 1:47 pm

Hi Guys,

I'm getting a bit of knocking in my front right suspension. I normally get it at low speed, going over speed bumps etc..

And also when the engine is at the point of stalling when moving around slowly without enough throttle. (manual)

The car is a Ae111 BZ-g Levin.

I've had a good look at the struts and subframe, everything seems to be nice and tight, I don't really know what to look for with a damaged bush.

I've taken a couple of photos of the engine mount. It looks a bit dodgy to me.

On the outside of the mount there seems to be this bit of rubber that I can move a little by hand. Does this look right? (circled in red)

And on the other side it almost looks like the mount is being pulled out.. Hard to explain and take photos of..

Any thoughts? What else should I look for?

Look for sway bar bushings, they can rattle when they get worn, becareful tho, when u jack it up weight will pull it down and tighten it up.

could also be ur suspension bushings if it kinda squecks as well as rattle.

Mount could be stuffed, but by the look of it the knocking noises are coming from elsewhere.

Wheel nuts tight ? (Stupid but it happens)
Nut on the top of the strut? I've had that before

Or as said sway bar end links or bushes.

I have that idle problem as well seems random. I think its th ISCV but I can't be stuffed trying to fix that, it's under the TB's.

I had a knocking sound coming from the front right on my ST185.

Checked the nut on top of the strut and it was loose and after tightening it the sound is gone.

Cheers Punter for the suggestion!

Mine are all good. Its funny, since I've had the car up on stands to check everything out, the noise has basically gone...

I think the check engine light would show up if it was ICV?
